Solutions

The power of tailored acceleration

Set aside the notion that all students need to learn the same thing at the same time.

Teach to One solutions allow students to follow a pathway created just for them: a unique blend of on-grade skills and building blocks from previous years. These pathways enable them to accelerate to grade level and beyond based on their individual strengths and needs.

The shift to tailored acceleration

Understanding the differences between traditional instruction and tailored acceleration

In a traditional classroom, all students learn the same grade-level material, regardless of their starting point. Those students who may already be behind tend to fall even further behind since math is cumulative and unfinished learning can readily accumulate.

When expecting students to follow a traditional instructional path, many students will fall further and further behind

Tailored acceleration focuses on building mathematical understanding efficiently—regardless of where students are starting—while adhering to the principles of high expectations, rigorous accountability, and educational equity.

Each student focuses on the specific pre-grade, on-grade, and post-grade skills they need to catch up and move ahead. With tailored acceleration, some students may not need a full year to achieve grade-level proficiency, while others may need more time.
