Our next AAPI Mathematician we’re highlighting this mong is Kamuela E Yong. Kamuela is a trailblazer in mathematics, setting the milestone as the first Native Hawaiian to achieve a Ph.D. in applied mathematics.
With dedication and perseverance, Kamuela has broken barriers for others in the Pacific Islander community to pursue their passion for math. Kamuela’s commitment extends to creating opportunities for others like them, as the co-founder of Indigenous Mathematicians, Kamuela endeavors to unite Pacific Islander mathematicians, fostering collaboration and support within the community.
