Women’s History Month – Mae C. Jemison Downloadable
March 25, 2024
By Teach to One

To wrap up our Women’s History Month spotlight on remarkable women in mathematics, we’ve chosen to highlight Mae C. Jemison, the first Black woman to travel into space aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour! Mae was a massive fan of Lieutenant Uhura from Star Trek, who further stoked her interest in space. Actor Levar Burton asked Mae to be in an episode of Stark Trek, leading to her becoming the first real astronaut on Star Trek: The Next Generation.
We hope you enjoyed our series highlighting Women in Mathematics this Women’s History Month and continue to celebrate pioneer women in STEM this month and beyond!
